Introduction

Austria is a beautiful country of startling contrasts, from the scenic Alps to the peaceful Danube Valley. Austria is noted for its historical buildings, numerous museums and galleries, as well as for its world-class skiing and breathtaking mountain scenery.

Requirements For Aupairs In Austria

  • The aupair must be between 18 and 27 years old
  • The aupair must have learned German for at least 6 months (at school, college, university, language school, etc)
  • Have experience in childcare
  • They must not have been an aupair in Austria during the last 5 years
  • The applicants should agree to stay as an aupair in Austria for at least 6 months
  • Have a clear criminal background

The Aupair’s Tasks

  • Work 20 hours work per week
  • Additionally, 2-3 times per week babysitting in the evening
  • The main tasks are looking after the children plus housework
  • The aupairs pay the visa and the travel costs themselves
  • The aupairs pay the accident and health insurance themselves (about € 43  per month)

The Aupairs Get

  •  € 366,33 + € 91,56 = € 457,88 pocket money per month
  • The family pays half of the language course costs – It is very important that the girls attend a language course during the first 6 months of their stay
  • The au-pair gets an own room
  • 3 meals per day, also on work free days
  • At least one work free day per week
  • 25 days (5 weeks) paid vacation per year
  • An emergency 24/7 hotline
  • Organised aupair meetings and aupair excursions
  • Aupair-List with the contact details of other aupairs
  • A welcome gift after their arrival

Candidates Must Provide The Following:

  • A completed aupair questionnaire in German (available through Scotia Personnel)
  • A completed medical certificate form (available through Scotia Personnel)
  • Two (2) references, one (1) from a family (or an other institution) where the aupair gained experiences in childcare and one (1) character reference (from a teacher, supervisor or an authority) translated into German
  • Pictures of the aupair
  • A Dear Family letter in German
  • A copy of a German diploma to prove that the applicant has learned German for at least 6 months. It must be translated into German
  • A passport copy. Please be aware that the passport must be valid over the entire period of stay
  • If you have already been an aupair in Germany we also need the copy of the German visa and residence permit
